Weston A. Price

The WESTON A. PRICE FOUNDATION  (WAPF)® is a nonprofit, tax-exempt charity founded in 1999 to disseminate the research of nutrition pioneer Dr. Weston Price. Dr. Price was a highly regarded dentist and brilliant researcher who traveled the world in the 1920’s, locating isolated tribes who followed their traditional diets. These people enjoyed beautiful straight and cavity-free teeth and vibrant health. He had heard that there were indigenous peoples who enjoyed excellent dental and physical health and he was determined to find out what it was they were eating that bestowed upon them such good health. Over his ten year sojourn around the world, he located many different peoples in completely different environments. He realized that although there were variations in the diet between cultures, a common denominator was a diet rich in nutrient dense foods. Dr. Price’s research demonstrated that humans can achieve vibrant health generation after generation only when they consume nutrient-dense whole foods that are traditionally prepared.

The Foundation is dedicated to restoring nutrient-dense foods to the human diet through education, research and activism. It supports a number of movements that contribute to this objective including accurate nutrition instruction, organic and biodynamic farming, pasture-feeding of livestock, community-supported farms, honest and informative labeling, raw, clean dairy, and nurturing therapies.

This blog is dedicated to helping the interested consumer achieve radiant health through nutrition instruction, food preparation videos, information on where to purchase nutrient dense foods, membership in community supported farms and a buyers club for nutrient dense foods.

The board and membership of the Weston A. Price Foundation stand united in the belief that modern technology should be harnessed as a servant to the wise and nurturing traditions of our ancestors rather than used as a force destructive to the environment and human health; and that science and knowledge can validate those traditions.

The Foundation’s quarterly journal, Wise Traditions in Food, Farming, and the Healing Arts, is dedicated to exploring the scientific validation of dietary, agricultural and medical traditions throughout the world. It features illuminating and thought-provoking articles on current scientific research; human diets; non-toxic agriculture; and holistic therapies. The journal also serves as a reference for sources of foods that have been conscientiously grown and processed. At $40.00 per year, membership in the Western Price Foundation is a steal! And the WAPF conference, every year in November is by far the most informative, intense and nourishing (they actually feed you wapf food!!!) experience I have ever had. (And I have been to many “nutrition” conferences). The WAPF conference can be life changing. Don’t miss it.
