I’m actually getting excited about spring! Yes I know it is still winter and cold cold cold. But in just 3 weeks we will be turning the clocks forward! I’m starting to think about my vegetable garden this year and getting organic seeds that are not associated with Monsanto in any way. There were a lot of great posts out there this month.

Spring is Coming

Those of you with backyard chickens will be happy when new chicks come. Those of you who farm will be happy when it warms up a bit.

You can get help planning your garden (exciting!) with online vegetable garden planning tools. Additionally, you can find out where to buy non gmo seeds and learn the difference between hybrids seeds vs. gmos.

Stay Healthy

Since it is still technically cold and flu season you may be interested in how to fight a cold without medicine. If you are sick you can always eat this fabulous paleo chicken soup.

Of course, prevention is the best medicine and we all know that sugar is bad for you -  and can cause sugar addiction and sugar cravings. You should not eat much of it — and that goes for artificial sweeteners as well.

Additionally, you should exercise and these core strengthening exercises are a good start. If you are a runner, or other endurance athlete, you can read about nutrition for running.

Real Food Simplified

If you are just getting into the real food movement you might want to take a look at this post about real food simplified. It will make real food very clear to you.

If your kids are in school, here are some healthy school lunch and snack ideas that they will love.

Just don’t drive yourself crazy by trying to keep it real at all times (unless you are on a healing program and you must be very strict). Remember the 80/20 rule for eating well 80% of the time.

Nutrient Dense Foods

Of course you can incorporate nutrient dense foods into your diet to help you stay well during the cold and flu season. Here is a way to prepare beef heart and heart kebobs. And here a recipe for the ever delicious chicken liver pate.

All of these nutrient dense foods are full of heart healthy saturated fats. These fats provide us with essential fat soluble vitamins, without which, we will not have healthy babies. Additionally, we also need the missing nutrient: vitamin K2. This is actually Dr.Weston Prices’ Activator X and it is critical for mineral absorption from foods.

The current dietary recommendations for low food eating is depriving the population of these important nutrients and explains why Americans are in such poor health. For 30 years we have been listening to their dietary advice to use vegetable oils in place of animal fats and look at where we are today — much worse off.

Do It Yourself

So many household products are full of toxic chemicals. It doesn’t take much to do it yourself. You can make your own homemade dish soap, wool dryer balls, coconut oil deodorant,  coconut/jojoba oil face & body cream  even how to naturally whiten teeth.

What about you? Would you try some of these tips? Leave a comment and let me know!
