I never thought it would happen to me, but it did. When I first started my blog I was so enthused about writing, I spent inordinate amounts of time in front of the computer. I began to feel nauseous by 10:00 at night. It turned out to be sensitivity to the EMF given off by the computer.
At first I thought it was the fluorescent light above the computer so I changed the bulb. I also ruled out eye strain. I am careful now to limit my time on the computer and to finish by 8:30 at night. It seemed to affect me more later in the evening.
He finally figured out why he was getting such as array of severe symptoms that no doctor could figure out.
It was from EMF exposure.
Interestingly, he said that being exposed to EMF’s 2 – 3 hours before bedtime will reduce melatonin. As I mentioned above, I was using the computer (source of EMFs) later in the evening and experiencing nausea – I also was experiencing difficulty sleeping until I started to take a melatonin supplement before bedtime.
Melatonin has anti-cancer properties and protects against melanoma, prostrate cancer, breast cancer, ovarian cancer, non-Hodgkins lymphoma.

Humans have electromagnetic currents running through our meridians. This has been known for centuries and the ancient practice of acupuncture is based on this knowledge.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine it is known as Qi (Chee) or the life force within us. Acupuncture accesses the various lines of energy (meridians) and attempts to unblock, dampen or strengthen them as needed.
Knowing that we have these currents – it makes sense that we may be affected by outside electrical waves.
Electric and magnetic fields are emitted from electrical devices or anything that uses electricity. There are naturally occurring earth currents which are low electrical currents found in the ground/soil. These naturally occurring currents within the earth, along with above ground electrical energy produce low magnitude electrical currents.
Transient and high frequency noise or signals come from the electrical wiring in buildings and from common electrical devices found in our homes and offices.
Noise or dirty electricity is created when electrical current is transmitted and interrupted – for example when high frequency signals overload regular electrical currents traveling in wires and currents through the earth.
Examples are fluorescent lights, wi-fi, cell phones, computers, battery chargers, smart meters, and plasma tv.
Clean power is 60 Hz power. The increasing need and use for electricity has put stress on the electrical infrastructure.
According to DirtyElectricity.org, changes in the behavior of farm animals and health problems in humans have been observed, due to stray voltage that was not properly grounded.
Stray voltage is also a cause of electrical pollution. Stray voltage most often occurs on and off farms in localized areas. These localized areas can have poor grounding and utility infrastructure causing electrical failure. Stray voltage on farms has been detected by observing behavioral changes in farm animals and some health problems for humans. Stray voltage was one of first discovered sources of electrical pollution prior to the 1950s in areas of the rural United States.
Acute symptoms may vary but can include migraine or headache, dizziness, foggy thinking, nausea, fatigue, sleep disturbances, skin problems like prickling feeling, burning sensations and rashes, burning sensations in the eyes, muscle pain, cardiovascular distress and depression.
More troubling are the long term effects such as cancer. In 2011 the World Health Organization (WHO) put out a press release that states that radiation from cell phones can be a carcinogen to humans and, with excessive use, could be linked to brain tumors. This radiation is electromagnetic energy.
Get rid of fluorescent light blubs as these have been shown to emit radiation.
Get rid of your cell phone. It has been shown that cell phones emit loads of EMFs. OK you’re not going to do that and neither am I. What you can do is never talk into a cell phone while holding it close to your ear. Even 6 inches away is enough to greatly decrease the EMF exposure. Use the speaker phone for all your calls.
I can do this and so can you.
Get rid of electronics in your bedroom. An older TV gives off EMFs (more so than the new flat screen TVs). Electronics gives off light and you also want to avoid having any light in your bedroom as this interferes with sleep.
Get rid of wi-fi because that emits more EMFs than a plugged in version. OK this is hard to do because wi-fi is so cool. The best you can do is make sure there is no wi-fi in the room where you sleep.
Get rid of cordless phones. The land lines have much less EMF radiation.
Look into getting EMF filters. Some of these are pricy so you want to do your research. There is a store at ElectricSense where you can look around.
The takeaway from the interview was that EMFs exist and can be very detrimental to your health, especially if you are sensitive. But, you don’t have to be sensitive to experience symptoms and possible long term negative effects.
No one is safe from dirty electricity in our modern world. Figure out how to protect yourself and your family from it.
