Sunday Snippets: December 4, 2011

Sunday

Welcome to Sunday Snippets. This is a weekly feature that allows you to take a quick peek at posts that I loved from my FAT TUESDAY carnival this past week. I’ll also summarize some posts from my blog from the past week. If you missed some or didn’t have time to read the whole post this “snippet” will give you the gist of it.

Here are some articles and recipes that I picked from FAT TUESDAY that really stood out for me. Each week I’ll be featuring some links from FAT TUESDAY so be sure to link up your best posts! If you are not a blogger, this is a place to connect with fascinating writings from all over the blogosphere!

This week we had so many wonderful selections it was really hard to choose… but here are a few of my favorites!

How A Mercury Filling Almost Took My Son’s Life from Whole.New.Mom. This is an amazing story of how a mother’s perseverance and intuition saved her son. Truly inspiring.

The Paleo Diet and Autoimmune Disease from Jo’s Health Corner. I have a deep interest in autoimmune disease and this post makes good sense. I’m not 100% in favor of Cordain’s take on Paleo, but I think a lot of Paleo followers are now realizing that good fats are also part of the ancestral eating patterns.

Beware of Soy: Classic Eggnog Recipe with a Dairy-free version from Our Nourishing Roots. Just in time for the season!

Fat-Filled Vegetables/GAPS Gravy from Homemade Dutch Apple Pie. This is a simple solution for adding good fats to your meals, especially in the early stages of GAPS!

Are Your Kids Eating Moldy Applesauce? from Gapalicious. Did you hear about this outrageous repackaging of moldy food? Read about it here.

Grain-Free Tortillas (GAPS legal) from Nourished and Nurtured. Another great GAPS recipe from Sarah.

Squash & Apples for Breakfast from The Well Fed Homestead. Wow, what a great idea for a warm cereal-like breakfast!

Are You Getting Enough Iodine in Your Diet from Real Food? from Agricultural Society. Raine has done it again with a really comprehensive article about iodine. This is a must read!

In addition, here are some posts from my blog this week that you may want to take a peek at…

Coconut Date Linzer Cookies. Labor intensive, but so worth it!

Action Alert: Nutritionists Need Your Help. Please spread the word about the American Dietetic Association attempts to control all Nutritionists!

Giveaway: Tender Grassfed Barbecue. Here’s a great gift idea. Maybe you will win!

Wisdom of the Children from the Wise Traditions Conference. You MUST watch the 2 minute video. It is priceless!

Holiday Butternut Squash (SCD/GAPS). Great side dish for holidays and everyday.

Fat Tuesday November 27, 2011. A fabulous collection of the wisdom and great eats in the real food world this week.

Thank you for sharing Jill! I appreciate your blog and your Sunday Snippets!  :)

    Hi Jill,
Thanks for featuring my blog post about Paleo and autoimmunity! Most Paleo people I know are realizing that fat is not bad. I think even Cordain revised his view regarding fat as well.
