Sunday Snippets: November 6, 2011

Sunday

Welcome to Sunday Snippets. This is a weekly feature that allows you to take a quick peek at posts that I loved from my FAT TUESDAY carnival this past week. I’ll also summarize some posts from my blog from the past week. If you missed some or didn’t have time to read the whole post this “snippet” will give you the gist of it.

Here are some articles and recipes that I picked from FAT TUESDAY that really stood out for me. Each week I’ll be featuring some links from FAT TUESDAY so be sure to link up your best posts! If you are not a blogger, this is a place to connect with fascinating writings from all over the blogosphere!

This week we had so many wonderful selections it was really hard to choose… but here are a few of my favorites!

Pumpkin Pecan Pie Muffins from Simply Living Healthy. Wow that’s a mouthful! I love pumpkin. I love pecans and I love pie! It’s a no brainer!

Shrimp Head Stew and Shrimp Broth from Real Food Freaks. It sounds disgusting, but it probably is very very nutritious. I am getting interested in insects and other gross things as an alternative food supply and this one fits the bill!

Herbal Healing Clay from Frugally Sustainable. This is a very interesting use of clay. By the way see my interview with Dr. Nuponnen who will be speaking at the WAPF conference about clay as a detoxification and healing agent.

Finding Grassfed Fat and How To Add Good Fat to Lean Meat by Tender Grassfed Meat. Stay tuned for my soon to be released interview with Stanley Fishman about the fabulous new book, Tender Grassfed Barbecue.

Pear Tart with Cinnamon and Cream from The Elliott Homestead. They have a lot of pears lately and I love all their uses of them! And their baby is beautiful!

Practice Gratitude to Improve Your Health Naturally from Common Sense Homesteading. I love this idea of gratitude. It is so positive and empowering. It allows one to take control of their life (and health) in a very positive way. I look forward to her Month of Gratitude posts.

In addition, here are some posts from my blog this week that you may want to take a peek at…

Grain-Free Fried Chicken. A very tasty way of recreating this comfort food.

Week Four: The Challenge Part of the Grain-Free Challenge. This is the ending post that explains how to “challenge” your body with grains, one at a time.

A Win for the Raw Milk Freedom Riders. We are making some headway here. The FDA has backed off from criminalizing moms who cross state lines with fresh milk for their families.

Interview with Dr. Pentti Nupponen: Upcoming WAPF Conference Speaker. Dr. Nupponen is a holistic dentist who will speak about using various clays for detoxification. This is very interesting!

Fat Tuesday November 1, 2011. A fabulous collection of the wisdom and great eats in the real food world this week.

Jill, Thank you for liking my gross shrimp heads. 🙂  I have even more disgusting things coming next week, but I have to be honest . . . I didn’t pass this test.  I guess there are some things that I just won’t eat for nourishment. 😉
