Post image for Giveaway: Two Month Supply of Proselem — A $120.00 Value — 3 Winners — $360.00 Total!

I am very excited to announce that we have a new sponsor on our Resource Page who has brought a Spirulina supplement into the United States from France, where it has been used for 7 years. This product is a 98% whole food product. In addition to the powerful anti-oxidant Spirulina, it also has naturally occurring selenium, vitamin E, and another powerful anti-oxidant called SOD.

Pure food supplement

This is a very pure food supplement that has finally reached our shores.  The French High Council of Public Health has approved Spirulina for use in human nutrition as a vegetable and a condiment. The official French categorization of Spirulina is that of a natural, non-traditional food source. It may be nontraditional to us, but it was and is very traditional to the cultures who have used it for centuries.

I think it may be close to a sacred food to those cultures. Read more about Spirulina here.

Simple ingredients –  easy absorption

Spirulina has an impressive amount of nutritional elements that are quickly and rapidly absorbed.  Some of its proteins are enzyme pigments.  The phycocyanins and phycoerythrinas produce its characteristic blue pigments.  These blue pigments along with carotenoids function in capturing the widest range of the solar spectrum where chlorophyll alone cannot.

The make-up of the proteins expressed in Spirulina’s amino acids is very interesting because it is almost the same as what the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations has theoretically established as the international model for fighting malnutrition. There is however a slight deficiency in sulfur-containing amino acids in spirulina, but the peoples of Africa and the Aztecs of Mexico naturally compensated for this by eating it along with millet and corn.

Vitamin E

In this product the manufacturers use d-alpha-tocopheryl acid succinate extracted from natural sources (plant seeds) which is the most active of the tocopherols.  Its antioxidant activity centers primarily on cell membranes where it prevents peroxidation of the phospholipids.

While protecting the membranes from oxidation, tocopherol acts in synergy with the other antioxidant systems, including selenium-dependent glutathione peroxidase which breaks down the lipidic peroxides formed.

Superoxide dismutase (SOD)

We have a natural system of anti-oxidizing enzymes, which includes SOD, catalase, and peroxidase. These enzymes eliminate free radicals.  These anti-oxidizing enzymes present in the cell effectively eliminate primary free radicals on formation.  As a result very few free radicals are allowed to oxidize the cell constituents protecting them from damage.

However under certain conditions (smoking, stress, pollution, solar radiation, etc.) we will be exposed to free radicals when the rate of production of these oxidants is greatly increased. The free radicals will oxidize the cell constituents producing secondary free radicals that are capable of further oxidation. This can lead to cell destruction and the possibility of various diseases and cell pathologies..

Up to now the primary antioxidants (SOD and catalase) have not been utilized because they are fragile molecules and difficult to stabilize.  The only existing method is to supply secondary antioxidants from food or nutritional supplements to slow the damage caused by oxidant stress.

Here comes Proselem

Proselem is a source of primary anti-oxidants. It is made of plant-based capsules containing selenium-rich spirulina and natural Vitamin E extract, plus micro-capsules of SOD that protect it from the gastric juices.  The 400 mgs of spirulina contained in each capsule represents:  50 µg of selenium, 8 mg of Vitamin E, plus 5 mg of superoxide dismutase.

Quality

This product is from a company that takes pains to make a quality product. Safety and quality control are paramount. Proselem is made using a specific, selected strain, tested by and obtained from the famous Institute Pasteur in Paris. This strain is toxin free. (There are some strains of cyanobacteria that produce toxins).

Additionally, the spirulina in Proselem is cultivated under controlled laboratory conditions and undergoes extensive quality control. The manufacturer, Vita Api contracts with third party labs to conduct quality control testing at several stages throughout the algae growing process as well as manufacturing the product, including the finished product. This is called third party verification by independent labs and is the mark of a company that manufactures a superior product.

According to the manufacturer:

  • Safety: our spirulina is grown under strictly controlled conditions and quality control protocols. Third party testing for contaminants (toxins, heavy metals, etc) ensures that our spirulina is pure and safe.
  • Nutrients: grown in a selenium-rich environment, our spirulina is much richer in selenium than other spirulinas.
  • Our selenium is naturally-occuring, organically-bound. In our patented process, spirulina uptakes selenium from the growing medium and uses the selenium molecules to build its own selenocysteine and selenomethionine.
  • Unlike other supplements, the selenium in Proselem is never extracted or synthesized. Rather, selenium-rich spirulina is dried, powdered and encapsulated in its whole, raw form using an internationally patented method. No other supplement provides such a powerful, highly absorbable whole-food selenium supplement than Proselem.
  • Proselem is a synergistic whole food antioxidant associating selenium-rich spirulina, vitamin E and SOD (SuperOxide Dismutase). Its main constituent is a powerful proteinated selenium. The selenium in Proselem is different from all currently available forms of inorganic selenium, because it is part of the protein of the living spirulina. Proselem is eight times more absorbable than ordinary selenium supplements. This makes it an extremely effective and safe antioxidant supplement.
  • Your body recognizes Proselem as a whole food, because it is. Proselem allows your body to detoxify the substances produced during oxidation.
  • Selenium is one of the molecules found in glutathione peroxidase, a family of enzymes that protects against oxidative damage. Proselem is scientifically proven to boost your body’s production of glutathione, the most powerful toxin-removal agent in your body.

Please Note: This product is not intended for use by children, pregnant women or lactating women. Persons who may be allergic to algae or sulfur should not consume this product. Persons who may suffer from lead, mercury or other heavy metal poisoning should not consume this product or any product containing selenium without medical supervision. As with any dietary supplement, consult your physician before taking this product if taking medications or other supplements.
