Sunday Snippets: November 13, 2011

Sunday

Welcome to Sunday Snippets. This is a weekly feature that allows you to take a quick peek at posts that I loved from my FAT TUESDAY carnival this past week. I’ll also summarize some posts from my blog from the past week. If you missed some or didn’t have time to read the whole post this “snippet” will give you the gist of it.

Here are some articles and recipes that I picked from FAT TUESDAY that really stood out for me. Each week I’ll be featuring some links from FAT TUESDAY so be sure to link up your best posts! If you are not a blogger, this is a place to connect with fascinating writings from all over the blogosphere!

This week we had so many wonderful selections it was really hard to choose… but here are a few of my favorites!

Big Fat Lies Part 1 from Real Food Freaks. This is  a great run down of all the food myths we are taught from the “diet dictocrats.”

Canned Salmon from Traditional Foods. This is an extensive review of all the canned salmon choices we have, the nutrient content and information about BPA. It is very informative!

Paleo Oxtail Soup of the South by Following My Nose. Lots of photos and instructions. You can’t go wrong here!

Substituting Sweeteners for Cooking and Baking from Whole.New.Mom. This gives very precise instructions for making substitutions and explains the concept behind it. Very informative!

Homemade Probiotic Deodorant from Frugally Sustainable. This one was also the most viewed this week. I guess everyone is interested in non toxic deodorant and the probiotic concept is certainly intriguing!

Smoked Salmon & Herb Cheese Pinwheels from Our Nourishing Roots. I don’t know about you but I can’t resist smoked salmon is any way shape or form. And this recipe looks gorgeous! Just in time for the holidays!

Your Honey May Not Be Honey from Granola Catholic. Honey is an issue I am very concerned about. I buy local raw honey from reputable bee keepers that I know, but for people who buy from conventional stores — lots of problems! This is a very informative article.

In addition, here are some posts from my blog this week that you may want to take a peek at…

CranApple Sauce:Sugar-Free, SCD/GAPS. Just in time for Thanksgiving!

Tender Grassfed Barbecue: An Interview with the Expert Stanley Fishman. Stanley answers some of my questions about cooking grassfed meat in a healthful, traditional way and lots of other information from his terrific new book!

Fat Tuesday November 8, 2011. A fabulous collection of the wisdom and great eats in the real food world this week.
