Small family farms are under seige by bureaucrats who are trespassing on the civil liberties of citizens like you and me. This is the subject of Kristin Canty’s documentary film, Farmageddon — the Unseen War on American Family Farms. It has been premiered in various parts of the country and now it is coming to New York City from Friday, July 8 through Thursday, July 14. I’ll meet you there!
Kristin Canty is the mother of four children. Her youngest suffered from multiple food allergies that did not respond to traditional treatments. When she added farm fresh products to this diet, including raw, fresh milk from properly treated cows, her son got better. This lead her on a journey to find out why access to fresh whole food was being threatened.
As a member of both the Weston Price Foundation and the Farm-to-Consumer Legal Defense Fund, Kristin is hoping to draw attention to the plight of small family farms struggling to survive in spite of the burden of swat teams, seizures, raids and excessive regulations by misguided government bureaucrats.
These small farms are the backbone of the local real food movement. They are our suppliers of properly and humanely raised animals and the producers of real, fresh, raw milk. This milk is one of the most nutritious substances on earth, yet it is made illegal (in some states) for the farmers to sell this product to people WHO WISH TO BUY IT.
Kristin interviews the farmers who have been victims to this charade. These events are so preposterous you can’t even make it up. But it is chilling to hear about the raids, seizures of product, threats and intimidation that our government conducts in the name of food safety.
What are they selling? Is it drugs? Weapons of mass destruction? Biologic warfare? No. Just milk.
We need to get the word out and we need to show support for our farmers. I for one, am petrified to lose my major source of real meat, eggs and milk.
