6 Reasons to Eat Grass Fed Beef

Certainly many people are aware that grass fed beef is better than grain fed beef for human health. Here are six reasons why.

CLA: The Udderly Healthy Trans Fat

We have all heard how unhealthy trans-fats are for us. Synthetically produced tran-fats can be found as partially hydrogenated soybean and cottonseed oil as well as margarine. These fake fats are found in many commercial products from salad dressings to baked goods. For thirty years nutritionists have been saying that trans-fats are bad and recently the conventional medical community has finally agreed. So much so, that certain municipalities (like New York City) are actually banning them from use in restaurants. Surprisingly, there is one naturally occurring trans-fat that is tremendously healthy for us called CLA (conjugated linoleic acid).

Battle of the Two Sugars

In response to the declining consumption of high fructose corn syrup (HFCS), the Corn Refiners’ Association has asked the FDA for permission to change the name to “corn sugar.” Isn’t that typical of special interest groups — find a new way to market an old product in order to fool the public. This, in the face of serious concerns by scientists and consumers about the health and environmental impacts of HFCS.

Recipe: SCD/GAPS Coconut Milk

Living dairy-free can be a challenge, especially when it comes to milk replacements. Over the years I have tried many products. Before I knew better, I drank a lot of soy milk. After reading Kaayla Daniel’s book The Whole Soy Story I stopped drinking it immediately because of all the problems it can create. But that is another post for a different day. One alternative is to make your own coconut milk.
